Who Operates Nook & Spine

Nook & Spine is a product of LeadSpark Marketing LLC. This policy applies to the Nook & Spine website, account services, and mobile apps.

What We Collect

• Account details such as your name, email address, and sign-in credentials.
• Library, wishlist, TBR, watchlist, ratings, notes, tags, and edition details you add.
• Book-cover photos you choose to take or upload for your own library entries.
• Billing status, subscription provider, and subscription identifiers needed to verify access. Stripe processes website purchases; Apple processes purchases made through the App Store when those purchases are offered.
• Support requests, reply details, request category, and limited technical context you send through the contact form.
• Search terms, scanned ISBN values, device-session details, and basic technical and security information needed to provide and protect the service.

How We Use It

We use your information to run your personal library, provide account access, verify subscription access, retrieve book metadata, synchronize your devices, improve product reliability and security, and respond to support requests.

Camera, Cover Photos, and Book Search

The iOS app asks for camera access when you choose to scan an ISBN or take a book-cover photo. Barcode recognition occurs on the device; the detected ISBN may then be sent to Nook & Spine and a book-metadata provider to find the matching title. Nook & Spine does not request microphone access for scanning.

If you choose to add a cover photo, the app reads only the photo you select or take, resizes it on your device, and uploads it to Nook & Spine. The server re-encodes the image and removes embedded metadata such as photo location before storing it with your library entry. Your uploaded cover is used for your copy; it does not replace the shared catalog cover for other readers. Scanning a barcode does not upload camera frames.

Third-Party Services

Nook & Spine may use Stripe for website billing, Apple for App Store billing, book-metadata providers for search and scanning, AWS SES for transactional email, and n8n for limited support and operational delivery workflows. These providers process only the information needed for their role. Nook & Spine does not receive your full payment-card number or Apple Account password. The Nook & Spine database and admin feedback inbox are the authoritative support records.

Sharing and Tracking

Your library, notes, reading activity, and account are private unless you deliberately enable an unlisted Wishlist share link. Anyone with that link may view the shared Wishlist, but private notes are not included. Nook & Spine does not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising or tracking.

Support Requests

Contact-form messages are stored with a request reference so the team can reply and track resolution. Support notifications may be delivered through email and a limited operational alert, but the full message is not intentionally copied into general-purpose spreadsheets or chat alerts. Do not include passwords, payment-card details, reset links, or other unnecessary sensitive information in a support message.

Retention and Security

We retain account and collection data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We use access controls and encrypted transport to protect data. After deletion, limited payment, fraud-prevention, security, tax, or legal records may be retained when required, and restricted backup copies may remain temporarily until they age out under operational retention schedules.

Your Choices and Account Deletion

You can update or remove library records in your account. You can also permanently delete your account yourself from Settings under Danger zone after re-entering your current password, or from Profile under Your data in the iOS app. Self-service deletion removes your library, Wishlist, watchlist, settings, sessions, and account data. A website subscription billed by Stripe is canceled as part of deletion. An App Store subscription must be canceled separately through Apple. See the public account-deletion instructions.
